At a time when four persons involved in gang-rape of Nirbhaya in Delhi in December last were sentenced for death by the special court, the cyber city Hyderabad was shocked by the revelation of a 20 year old student of a polytechnic institute who was confined and raped for seventeen months by the owner of the college canteen.

A 12year old girl was allegedly gang-raped by five boys aged between 12 and 16 years , who are her neighbours and play together, in the Hatigaon area in Guwahati.
